*Salar Jung Museum to celebrate ‘International Museum Day’ on May 18th
*Visitors to get free entry from May 16 to 21
Hyderabad, May 12th, 2022:
The Salar Jung Museum will be celebrating ‘International Museum Week’ from May 16th to 21st during which period, various programmes will be conducted in its premises.
Addressing a press conference , the Director of Salar Jung Museum, Dr. A Nagender Reddy informed that the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, with an objective to celebrate the International Museum Day on 18th May with the theme of “The Power of Museums”.
Stressing that the museums are not only store houses of cultural heritage, but they are also educational centers helping to enhance knowledge of the visitors regarding the history, culture and traditions of the bygone era.
Sharing special feature of the celebrations, the Director, Dr.Nagendra said that Salarjung Museum has planned to invite Divyang and orphan students to visit museum. Elaborating on the various events planned for the celebrations of the International Museum Week, the Director shared the following:
1. Launching of Message Board
2. Exhibition with 75 objects hitherto displayed / from reserve collection indicating 75 years of Indian independence
3. Training school children on Arts, Crafts, Drawing etc
4. One day workshop/demonstration on making of Bidri and lecture
5. Special Art exhibition by 75 artists of Hyderabad Art Society
6. Photography contest of Museum object in association with Bhagyanagar Photo Art Club. Cash prizes will be awarded for the winners
7. A special lecture on “Humor in European Art”
8. Webinar on “Preventive Conservation”
9. Launching of photo point / selfie point I Love SJM at two places
10. Inviting Divyang and orphan students to the museum
11. Cultural programmes by the Telangana folk artists (being organized by the Department of programme will be organized the ICCR.
12. Inviting Embassies officials (special museum tour)
Shri Ramana Reddy ,President of Hyderabad Art Society, Smt Anuradha Reddy Hyderabad chapter Convenor of INTACH also addressed the media regarding the events planned. Janardha Reddy Photo club president, Dr Khusum, Curator, Dr.Nayak, Curator ,M.Veerendra Consultant for Salarjung Museum & other officials were present in the press conference.
