Vijayawada, June 3: Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy said the state govt is determined to revamp the medical and health department to improve health facilities in government hospitals to benefit the poor and common man.
Expressing concern over the deteriorating conditions in the government hospitals, the CM said the improvement in health services should reflect at the field level, not in the data of the chief minister’s dashboard.
Recalling the contents of manifesto of YSR Congress party he said the past glory of the department and 108 Services would be restored
He said the arogyasri would be called ‘YSR Arogyasri’ hereafter.
He announced the salary hike for Aasha workers from Rs 3000 to Rs 10,000 as promised in the YSR Congress party election manifesto.
The Chief Minister reviewed the functioning of the medical and health department at his camp office here today. Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister expressed surprise over pathetic conditions in government hospitals during the past five years.
The Chief Minister formed a committee to revamp the medical and health department and asked the committee members to submit a report in a month and a half.
Special chief secretary PV Ramesh will act as coordinator of the committee.
The Chief Minister appealed the officials to develop a passion for health services in the state. He stressed the need for transparency in transactions to establish zero tolerance for corruption in the administration.
He said officials should strive hard to change the existing system and to develop the government hospitals as model hospitals for the entire country.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to prepare a report on the shortage of doctors, nurses, and ayahs in govt hospitals. He said that the state govt is ready to increase the staff and improve infrastructure in govt hospitals.
The Chief Minister appealed to officials to present actual picture of the present conditions in govt hospitals including primary health centres to enable him to understand the situation and initiate measures to improve the infrastructure. He inquired about the functioning of ambulances in a detailed manner and asked about the actual requirement. He directed the officials to take stringent action on spurious drug cases.
Chief Secretary LV Subrahmanyam, Special chief secretary medical and health Poonam Malakondaiah gave a presentation on the medical and health department. PV Ramesh, special chief secretary, Director General of Drugs K Rajendranath Reddy and officials of Directorate of medical education, Vaidya Vidhana parishad, Ayush and APMSIDC were present.
