Pakistan Deploys Army to Enforce COVID-19 SOPs

Pakistan army troops have been deployed across the country to help civil institutions in enforcing the standard operating procedures (SOP) against coronavirus.

“The primary purpose of the deployment of army troops is to help civil institutions and law enforcement agencies,” said Major General Babar Iftikar, Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations.

“In this testing time, Pakistan Army will use all its capabilities to take every possible step for the protection of citizens and their lives.  [We]will go to every corner of Pakistan to ensure the protection of citizens,” he said according to a report in ‘dawn.com’.

According to Major General Iftikar Pakistan at this moment has 90,000 active cases with positivity at a dangerous level. The positivity rate, he added, is more than 5 pc in 51 cities.

There are as many as  4300 COVID-19 patients are in critical conditions while  570 are on ventilators.
