భారత జాతీయ పతకం సృష్టి కర్త పింగళి వెంకయ్యకు మరణానంతర ‘భారత రత్న’ గౌరవం అందించాలని ముఖ్యమంత్రి జగన్ ప్రధాని మోదీకి లేఖ రాశారు.
భారత స్వాత్రంత్య్ర పోరాటానికి మొదటి జండా నమూనా అందించి గాంధీప్రశసంలందుకున్న పింగళి వెంకయ్యకు జాతీయ గౌరవం దక్కడంలో ఇప్పటికే ఆలస్యమయిందని చెబుతూ భారత స్వాతంత్య్రం సిధ్ది 75వ సంవత్సరంలో ఆయన మరణాంతర భారత రత్న గౌరవమీయడం ఎంతో సముచితంగా ఉంటుందని ఆయన ఈ రోజు ప్రధానికి రాసిన లేఖలో పేర్కొన్నారు.
The country has lost several decades without recognizing the untiring efforts of her son late Shri Pingali Venkaiah who gifted it the first designs and specimen of the National flag; the flag that would fill the hearts of millions of Indian with the spirit of freedom, independence and duty to carry out with the struggle until the motherland was unshackled from the chains of slavery. It is in this light, I request your kind self to confer Bharat Ratan (posthumously) upon Shir Pingali Venkaiah that would not only bequeath peace on to his parted soul but also fulfill the aspirations of the people of Andhra Pradesh అని జగన్ ప్రధానికి రాసిన లేఖలో పేర్కొన్నారు.
ఈ రోజు జగన్ గుంటూరు జిల్లా మాచర్ల వెళ్లి పింగళి వెంకయ్య కూతురు సీతారావమ్మను పరామర్శించి సన్మానించారు.ఆమె యోగక్షేమాలను తెలుసుకున్నారు. ఆమెకు రు. 75 లక్షల ఆర్థిక సాయం అందించారు. పింగళి వెంకయ్య జీవిత విశేషాలున్న పుస్తకాలను తిలికించారు. దేశానికి స్వాతంత్య్రం వచ్చి 75 సంవత్సరాలు అయినసందర్భంగా ఈ ఉత్సవాన్ని పింగళి వెంకయ్య కుటుంబ సభ్యులను సన్మానించి ముఖ్యమంత్రి ప్రారంభించారు.
