The corona related fatalities have been on the rise in the Rayalaseema region steadily ever since the lockdown was relaxed.
Twelve of the deaths reported in Andhra Pradesh in the past 24 hours ten were from the region and is seen as a disturbing trend.
The region comprising Kurnool, Chittoor, Anantapur, and Kadapa districts have figured prominently in the COVID bulletins of the health department of the state.
While Kurnool has been the hotspot of the coronavirus, Anantpuar is also now competing with it. With five more succumbing to the coronavirus, the death toll of Kurnool district rose to 81. With the district reporting 91 new cases in the past 24 hours, the caseload has gone up to 2,451 and 1,153 have still been active cases.
The COVID-19 death toll of Anantapur district rose to 12 with three more patients succumbing to the coronavirus on Sunday. The 81 fresh cases reported on Sunday, the tally of positive cases in the district jumped to 2,186.
In the meantime, Kadapa and Chittoor districts have reported two death each in the past 24 hours. While the tally of positive cases of Chittoor district stood at 1,352, Kapapa is also not lagging with 1,245 cases.
