With multiple new corona positive cases being reported from various states, the government of India announced lockdown in 75 districts.
According to a report in Deccan Herald, India’s death toll rose to six on Sunday, with Bihar reporting the first death and Mumbai second. The total number of positive cases stood at 341 as of March 22.
Maharashtra is the worst affected state in India. Tamil Nadu has reported seven cases and the number of people being quarantined at home is on the rise in the state.
Gujarat cases have risen to 18.
Telangana is likely to impose lockdown till March 31. Maharashtra chief minister Thackeray has imposed Section 144 all across the state. No flights outside of India will be allowed to land in Mumbai.
Punjab chief minister issued instruction for a shutdown of all non-essential services and businesses across the state with effect from Monday 6 am to midnight March 31 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Meanwhile, Indian Railways has suspended all passenger services till March 31.
With a new corona positive case emerging, Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) police sounded high alert. City police commissioner called for three-day extended Janata Curfew.
