EFLU Extends Holidays Fearing Anti-CAA Protests on the Campus

Winter vacation has been extended for EFLU allegedly in a short notice. A notification has been issued on the night of December 30, a day before hostels were to be  reopened after a one month vacation.Reason fear of anti-CAA protests.
The notifications stated that the winter vacation has been extended to till  January 20,2020 and hostels would  remain closed till January 18.
Even the doctoral students have been asked to vacate their rooms before January 3, 2020, which the students said was unusual and unprecedented.
The PhD students deplored the move stating that the extended holidays would make it difficult for them to apply for UGC scholarship  the last date of which falls on January 15, 2020.
“Most of the students have already booked their tickets to return to the Eflu.  While some have already reached the campus,a few are on on their way to Hyderabad,” a student told trendingtelugunews.com
Stating that the circular released in a short notice had left students confused, another student said,  as the students are from across the country including northeast, the admin’s decision created chaos everywhere.
” As the students  are already midway their journey, they neither can reach EFLU nor go back home now,” the students complained.
The administration has reportedly said a major renovation on the campus as the reason for the sudden shutdown.
Student community, however, suspects  the motive behind the sudden decision. They said  the administration was apprehensive of  an agitation against CAA.
“The sudden decision of renovation is also a threat to students’ belongings in their rooms as most of them will be unable to come and vacate their rooms and return back to their respective places,” another student said. Today the students staged a dharna against the admin’s decision and demanded that they be allowed to remain in the hostels.
