‘Postcard News’ Editor Arrested for Peddling Fake News

Mahesh Vikram Hegde, editor of Postcard News, has been arrested by Bangalore police for spreading fake news. Hegde’s website known for controversial and fake news, posted a story stating a Jain monk had been attacked by some Muslim youth. He He posted the picture of injured jain monk on Facebook. Stating the post  is malicious and meant to create communal violence in the poll-bound Karkanata, the police said the Jain monk was in fact hurt in a road accident. The facebook post also said  no one was safe in Siddaramaiah’s Karntaka.

According to a report in News18, Hegde has been accused of peddling fake news on previous occasions as well. Curiously, his followers on twitter include none other than  Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Now BJP leader crying foul and launched a social media campaign #ReleaseMaheshHegde against @siddaramaiah dictatorial rule.
