Hyderabad, May 13 : Congress former Loksabha MP and TPCC Working President Mohammed Azaruddin demanded reconstruction of Ek Khana Masjid which was demolished by GHMC few days back in Ambarpet at the same place.
Addressing media at Gandhi Bhavan Monday the former cricketer alleged that the authories had even ignored the historical importance of the Masjid while demolishing the place of worhship.
He asked the government to institute a probe into the incident which hurt the sentiments of the Muslims in city and ensure that the culprits be brought to the book.
The mosque was brought down by the GHMC authorities on May 2 as part of the roadwidening program. Authorities claim it was not a place of worship and they acquired the site from private individuals after paying due compensation.
Questioning the rationale behind distribution of compensation to the so called residents of the Masjid, Azharudding asked the GHMC as to how they paid compensation to the individuals when the property belonged to Waqf Board.
Suspecting the hands of some vested interets in the unholy act, he said, all these issues warrant a thorough inquiry into the demolition of the Masjid.
Commenting on the ongoing General Elections 2019, he said he clearly saw a wave in favor of Congress across the country.
Desperation was clearly visible on the face of Prime Minister Modi. He is devoting more time to attack Rahul Gandhi’s family rather than convincing people on the achievements of his government in the past five years.
When asked about possible patch up between Congress and TRS, Azhar said Congress high command would take a call on TRS if it really needs the support of TRS in the post-poll scenario.
