(Press Note)
In a full general body meeting of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha today, the proposal put forth by the Government yesterday was rejected. A full repeal of three central farm acts and enacting legislation for remunerative MSP for all farmers were reiterated as the pending demands of the movement.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha pays homage to the 143 farmers who have been martyred in this movement so far. These companions are separated from us while fighting this mass movement. Their sacrifice will not go in vain and we will not go back without the repealing of these farm laws.
In the meeting held with the police officials, the police requested to not to conduct the parade in Delhi, while the farmers restated their plan about doing the parade on the outer ring road of Delhi.
This peaceful movement is becoming a people’s movement and getting nationwide. Farmers are uniting for Republic Day through vehicle rallies in many places in Karnataka. Farmers’ tractor marches are taking place in many places in Kerala.
Farmers of Bilaspur and Rampur in Uttarakhand are preparing for the farmers’ parade in Delhi by organizing tractor march. Farmers in Chhattisgarh will march towards the Raj Bhavan on January 23 and a group of farmers will also leave for Delhi.
The Kisan Delhi Chalo Yatra of Navnirman Kisan Sangathan, which was started in Odisha, is being disturbed repeatedly by the Uttar Pradesh Police. Instructions are being given to change their route. Police officials are disturbing public meetings also. We oppose this behaviour of the administration.
A 3-day big protest in Kolkata will take place from January 20 to January 22. Thousands of people are participating in this huge event. It is also expected to intensify the protest in the coming days.
The farmers, labourers and common people under the leadership of Mazdoor Kisan Shakti Sangathan are reaching Shahjahanpur border. Protests against neo-liberal policies are being conducted through puppets shows and songs.
