Students Islamic organization, Telangana urged the Telangana government to waive the examination fee as the families of the students are economically hit during the nation-wide lockdown.
A delegation of SIO today called on Smt Sabitha Indra Reddy, Education Minister, and Prof P. Papi Reddy, chairman of TSCHE to present a memorandum to this effect.
According to the delegation majority of the families are not in a position to pay the exam fee as they had lost wages and employment during the lockdown.
The leaders of SIO requested the minister to provide adequate funding to conduct exams and bail out the universities from the financial crisis.
They further demanded the postponement of the exams as the situation is worsening with COVID-19 cases increasing alarmingly across the state. They also demanded that the pending scholarships of the students be released immediately.
In a press statement, Qayamuddin Campus secretary – SIO TS, said many students across the state had reached out to SIO for financial assistance to remit the examination fees. Though the SIO did arrange some funds for some students, it is painful to see that the students fear the loss of an academic year due to lack of money.
stating that the meetings with both the dignitaries were fruitful the SIO hoped that the govt would soon take appropriate decisions to relieve the families of the financial burden.
