Amaravati, June 4:YSR Congress MLA from Vemuru (Guntur district) Merugu Nagarjuna stated that Dalit community has been betrayed, crippled and devastated during TDP rule and people are not going to fall for words of Chandrababu Naidu.
Hitting back the remarks made by TDP Chief Chandrababu Naidu on the Dalit welfare schemes launched by State government, the MLA said that Naidu has no moral right to stand by the Dalit community after all the insults he had done during his rule.
Addressing a press conference on Thursday, MLA Nagarjuna said that the Dalit community is not going to forget the insults faced by Chandrababu Naidu. He added that Naidu had no right to question the government regarding Dalit welfare.
“Chandrababu Naidu should be ashamed of posing a question like ‘Who would wish to be born in the SC community?’ and for this even today he owes an apology. The five-year rule by Chandrababu Naidu was the evilest, filled with all false claims and thus he got rejected by the public. During his tenure Chandrababu Naidu allocated an estimated budget of Rs 13,800 crores total in all four years for Dalit welfare and spent only Rs 8201 Crore. Hundreds of Crores belonging to the SC sub-plan were diverted and misused by Naidu leaving the welfare at stake. Even today he is using Dalits for boosting his political mileage and backing Dr Sudhakar is one such play.”
Our Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said had always stood by the promise he made to the public and he is committed to the welfare of Dalit community.
“The estimated budget for Dalit welfare during the 2019-20 budget was of Rs 3765.39 Crore, but the Chief Minister has spent over Rs 4500 Crore towards Dalit welfare. In a span of one year, through various welfare initiatives, lakhs of Dalits were benefited and living their dreams in reality,” he said.
