The Union Government on Sunday evening lifted the restrictions on the interstate movement of people in private vehicles and public transport.
The ban on interstate bus services had been imposed as part national lockdown two months ago on March 25, 2020. Now, the center has removed the restriction as part of new guidelines issued for lockdown 4.0.
While extending the lockdown until May 31 tody, the centre has asked the states to resume the inter-state movement of the people.
Lakhs of people have been languishing in various states as the inter-state bus services have been withdrawn abruptly. The nes set of guildeline, that will come into force from tomorrow, is expected to offer a ray of hope for these stranded people.
“Inter-state movement of vehicles and buses has also been allowed with mutual consent of the concerned States/UTs. Intra-state movement of vehicles and buses can be decided by the states and UTs,” the guidelines said.
The guidelines for the lockdown 4.0 will end the restrictions imposed on the plying of cycle rickshaws, Autos, taxis, and cab aggregators such as Ola and Uber.
