Setting a record of sorts, Kerala has reported nil corona positive cases fourth day in succession today. In the last seven days, the fresh cases reported were just five, the lowest seven-day figure after the second wave of infection that began on March 9.
And during the same time, as many as 81 patients were cured of the disease. Consequently, the number of active cases in the state has fallen from 111 on April to 30 on Wednesday which means a recovery rate of 12 cases a day.
With several recovering on Wednesday Kottayam and Pathanamthitta districts have become COVID-19 free for the time being. Though COVID-19 free, the Kottayam district is still in Red Zone as the driver who brought eggs from Tamil Nadu on April 3, was tested positive. It is suspected that he might have spread it to many persons during his stay in Kerala.
