Actor-turned-politician and newly elected Lok Sabha member from Mandya, Karnataka, Sumalatha said discharging the duties of an MP was her top priority as of now.
She made it clear that she would think of acting in movies in the future depending on the suitable role she gets.
Sumalatha won the prestigious Mandya Lok Sabha seat by defeating chief minister Kumaraswamy’s son Nikhil with a margin of 67,000 votes. She contested as an Independent candidate following the denial of the ticket by Congress.
Interacting with students at the KLE Technological University (KLETU) at Vidyanagar in Hubballi Saturday, Sumalatha, wife late Congress minister and actor Ambarish, noted that her resounding victory in the recently held Lok Sabha election had clearly demonstrated the affection people cherished for her and her husband Ambarish.
Sumalatha participated in the meeting as part of the promotion of the movie ‘Amar’ in which her son Abhishek plays the lead role.
She recalled how people from Hubballi and Dharwad had also come to Mandya to campaign for her in the election.
She said she had acted in more than 200 films in five languages and was satisfied with 40 year-long movie career.
