Secunderabad BJP MP and newly appointed union minister of state for Home G Kishan Reddy set the capture of GHMC as the next target of BJP in Telangana.
GHMC will go to polls later this year.
He said winning the GHMC would pave the path for the BJP to come to power in Telangana in the next Assembly elections.
Addressing Party workers in a meeting arranged on his arrival in the city after assuming office the union minister, Kishan called the GHMC election should become a precursor for Assembly election in 2023.
“The party workers should reach out to people and concentrate on day to day civic problems of people, especially of those living in slums,” he said and added that he would not shun the fight on Hyderabad local issues just because he was a union minister now.
Kishan Reddy earlier in the day undertook a padayatra in Ambarpet and Golkanka areas of his erstwhile Assembly constituency of Ambarpet. People greeted hin great numbers and presented petitions on local civic issues.
Echoing the similar sentiments, Telangana party president K Laxman also reiterated that the party next target was GHMC polls. “The ruling TRS is flush with funds and power. Taking the agitational path by mobilizing people at the grassroots is the only effective strategy against the TRS” Laxman said.
BPP, which won four Lok Sabha seats in recently held elections, is brimming with hope that the party has become undeclared Opponent of TRS despite its thin presence in the Assembly with Congress being caught in an existential crisis and TDP altogether disappearing from the state.
