AICC secretary V Hanumantha Rao and former Rajay Sabha member on Friday said the Telangana government’s decision to construct the new secretariat complex at the existing one was a victory to the Telangana Congress.
Interacting with media, Rao recalled how Congress had to fight against the decision of the ruling TRS leadership to construct secretariat buildings at environmentally sensitive Bison Polo Grounds.
“The decision of the government against constructing a new secretariat at Bison Polo Grounds is welcome. This will benefit the sportspersons as well as environment. The government should encourage sportspersons. Also, there is a need to put an end to use the Lal Bahadur Stadium for political purposes,” Rao said.
Talking about the recent setback the Congress suffered in series of elections in Telangana, Rao opined that it is bound to have a demoralizing effect on the cadre The loss of confidence by the party workers would cause irreparable damage to the party, he added.
“Allocation of tickets to outsiders at the cost of loyal party leaders had led to the defection of the party MLAs to the rival TRS. The submission of the CLP merger letter to the Assembly Speaker by the defected MLAs of the party clearly demonstrates that there were coverts in the party. I have been alerting the party about the coverts in the party, ” he said.
Asking the rebel MLAs what would they achieve by joining the TRS party, Rao said all the party workers would have to hang their heads in shame if the CLP merger was completed.
He took objection to the statement of the party MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy that he would work for the people by taking inspiration from former CM late YS Rajasekhar Reddy. The Congress veteran advised Congress leaders to draw inspiration from the party leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi to work among the people.
