AICC secretary and former Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao said the resignation of Rahul Gandhi as party president would lead to chaos in the party and urged Rahul not to think of stepping down from the leadership.
A defeat, he said, should not lead to resignation and setback in electoral politics is common.
” In 1977 people Congress under the leadership of Indira Gandhi faced a rout in the elections. But the same people gave the party resounding victory in 1980,” VH said adding that the entire party, from grassroots to senior party leaders, was favoring Rahul’s leadership.
Referring to BJP criticism of dynasty politics in Congress, the T-Congress leader said there was a difference between Rahul Gandhi’s family and other political families in the party.
Rao was critical of the delay in announcing the exgratia to the students who committed suicide following the mark bungling by the Intermediate board in Telangana. He demanded a Rs 20 lakh ex-gratia to the bereaved families. Similarly, Rao demanded that chief minister KCR visit the families of Hajipur victims as early as possible to reassure them that they would get justice.
