It looks like a throwback to union minister of state for Science and Technology Sujana Chowdary’s special category status drama. How he talked about special category status to Andhra Pradesh two years ago cannot be erased from the collective memory of the people. He repeatedly assured the people of the state that special status was being finalized and an announcement was expected any time. Since union minister is the chief minister Naidu’s Man Friday at centre, people took his word as almost an official statement. Nothing had happened. Sujana Chowdary hoodwinked people for two years into believing that centre and TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu were really fighting for Special Category Status. But, ultimately, Naidu jettisoned the demand for clueless special package.
Now Sujana Chowdary is playing the same trick again, this time on Vizag Railway Zone. He wants people to believe that centre mellowed following chief minister Naidu’s anger and MPs dharna in the well of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
The story line is that Sujana Chowdary is holding talks with Odisha state to convince that creation of Vizag Railway zone would not affect the interests of the state, which is opposed to the new zone.
His aides say Odisha is convinced and the centre would soon make an official statement.
