From duets to duel, Jayasudha to take on Muralimohan

Actor turned politician, former Congress MLA from Secunderabad, Jayasudha today joined YSRCP. She called on Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy at his Lotus Pond office in Hyderabad and expressed her wish to join the party. Jagan invited her into party fold by offering her party shawl.

Jayasudha entered Congress before 2009 elections when YS Rajasekhar Reddy was chief minister. YSR encouraged her to contest from Secunderabad Assembly constituency and she won. But she lost to TRS in 2014 elections. Following the bifurcation of the state, she joined TDP in 2016. She, however, had never been active TDP.

Explaining her choice to join YSRC, Jayasudha said it was her voluntary decision, and she was noway under pressure from TRS to quit TDP and join YSRC.

Expressing gratitude for late YSR who she said was responsible for her entry into politics, Jayasudha, who is known as Sahaja Nati, said joining YSRC was like homecoming for her.

She was confident of YSRC win in forthcoming general elections. Jagan is all set to become the next chief ministr of Andhra Pradesh, she averred.

Party sources said she stands the chances of being fielded from coastal Andhra as YCP candidate. Uncofirmed sources said she might be party’s nominee from Rajahmundry Lok Sabha constituency against TDP’s actor-turned-polician Maganti Muralimohan.

Incidentally, Muralimohan and Jayasudha were a hit pair of tollywood in early 1980s. Here is a superhit number from eponymous film Jayasudha
