Pakistan’s Punjab Information and Culture Minister and senior regional leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has been removed from provincial cabinet following controversy over his alleged derogatory remarks direcred against Hindus of India.
Dr Shahbaz Gill, the chief minister’s spokesperson, told media that Chohan tendered resignation and it was accepted by chief minister Usman Buzdar after a meeting.
Chohan had come under intense criticism from senior members of his party’s government and social media users over his recent abusive remarks against the Hindu community.

The former Punjab minister while addressing a meeting in Lahore on February 24, in the aftermath of Pulwama attack, had used foul language against the Hindu community and conflated India with Hindus.
“You cow urine-drinking people, listen to me… we are Muslims and we have the flag of Hazrat Ali (RA) and Hazrat Umar (RA)’s bravery. You don’t have that flag,” he had said in a media talk on Monday. “Idol-worshippers” shouldn’t operate under the delusion that they are better than Pakistan.”
Leaders of the different political parties slammed Punjab’s information minister for the objectionable remarks and demanded his sacking.
