Cyclone Nisarga to Make Landfall Between 12 Noon and 3 PM

Cyclone Nisarga is expected to make landfall today between 12 noon and 3 pm. The tropical storm currently 165 km south-southwest of Alibaug in Raigad district of Maharashtra and 25km south-southwest of Mumbai and 440 km south-southwest of Surat in Gujarat.
According to a bulletin issued by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) at 7 am, Nisarga is expected to make landfall at a place close to Alibaug between 12 Noon and 3 pm. IMD scientist said the diameter of Nisarga’s eye is about 65 km and it has decreased in the past couple of hours, an indication of intensification of the cyclonic system. The eye is the calm weather at the centre of tropical cyclones. IMD issues red alert for seven coastal districts of Maharashtra many districts along the Gujarat coast.
