Lockdown Extended Till June 30, But, More Freedom Outside Containment Zones

The Centre on Saturday extended the corona lockdown in all containment zones across the nation till June 30. And it further relaxed the restrictions outside the containment zones to allow the resumption of more economic activities. But this will be done in a phased manner.

The ministry of home affairs (MHA) has issued new guidelines for the next phase of lockdown that will come into force from Monday. Phase 4 is scheduled to end tomorrow.

Talking about the continuance of lockdown in containment zones, the center said rescheduled night curfew will be in force in these zones.  Minus bars restrictions on hotels and restaurants along with temples and places of worship have been lifted.The centre has also lifted the restrictions on the interstate and inter-state movement of persons and good. Now, no pass is need to cross state borders.

The following activities will be allowed with effect from June 8, 2020

Phase 1

1. Religious places /places of worship for public
2. Hotels, restaurants, and other places hospitality services
3. Shopping malls

Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MOHFW) will issue standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the above activities, in consultation with the central ministries/Departments concerned and other stakeholders, for ensuing social distancing and to contain the spread of COVID-19

Phase II

Schools, colleges, educational /training/coaching institution etc., will be opened after consultations with states and UTs. State Governments/UT administrations may hold consultations at the institution level with parents and other stakeholders.

Based on the feedback, a decision on the re-opening of these institutions will be taken in the month of July 2020
MOHFW will prepare SOPs in this regard as well.

Phase III

Based on the assessment of the situation, dates for re-starting the following activities will be decided later:
1. International air travel of passengers, except as permitted by MHA
2. Metro Rail
3. Cinema Halls, Gymnasiums and Swimming pools, entertainment parks theaters, bars and auditoriums, assembly halls, and similar places, and
4.Social political/sports/entertainment/academic/cultural/religious functions and other large congregations.

Night Curfew

Movement of Individuals, however, shall remain strictly prohibited between 9 PM to 5 AM throughout the country, except for essential activities. Local authorities shall issue orders, in the entire area of their jurisdictions, under appropriate provisions of law, such as under section 144 or CRPC and ensure strict compliance.

Lockdown in Containment Zone

Lockdown shall continue to remain in force in the Containment Zones till June 30, 2020
