Kashi Temple Introduces Dress Code for Devotees

Uttar Pradesh’s Kashi (Varanasi) Vishwanath Hindu shrine, which is said to the oldest surviving temple in the world, has introduced a dress code for devotees to enter the sanctum of the temple.

The dress core mandates both men and women to wear traditional attire; men will have to wear dhoti-kurta while women saree to enter the premises of the temple and worship Lord Vishwanath.

The decision has been taken by the Kashi Vidwat Parishad. Now onwards devotees entering the temple in pants and jeans will not be allowed to enter the Sanctum.

Though the decision is taken, the management has not notified the date when the new dress code would come into force.
